In the last decade, my electroacoustic work has revolved around the idea of building instruments. These instruments range from Hybrid Systems, including cello work with for Hugh Livingston and Frances Marie Uitti, to Sound Installations, like *Listen Edgemar*, and wholly Electronic Instruments, such as in *News Cycle #2* and *Knock on the Sky*. What they share is a software component, usually Max/MSP/Jitter, and a combination of analog and digital sensors. This seminar offers an overview of this work, focussing on aesthetic motivation and practical implementation. Parts of my upcoming *Method for Tablet Performance* will be presented, and principals of instrument design will be discussed.
