Tonight, 5-7pm, in conjunction with Merce Cunningham's residency at Cal Performances (Merce is scheduled to visit at approx 5pm):

Panorama: A Multi-Media Happening

Fri, Nov 14, 5:00-7:00 pm
Pauley Ballroom (3rd floor)
Martin Luther King Student Center Building (next to Zellerbach)
UC Berkeley Free and Open to the Public

Large and small scale projections juxtaposed with live dance, robotic cameras, and audio technologies draw audience members into a performance that they may enter at any time. Inspired by the 1966 "Nine Evenings: Theater and Engineering" staged by artist Robert Rauschenberg and engineer Billy Klüver, Panorama brings together a multi-disciplinary cast and crew of dancers, artists and scientists to create an evening of interactive and technologically rich theater, honoring the cutting edge explorations that are the hallmark of the Merce Cunningham and John Cage legacy.

Directed by Lisa Wymore with the dance theater company Smith/Wymore Disappearing Acts; Ruzena Bajcsy (EECS & CITRIS); Ken Goldberg (IEOR, EECS, iSchool, BCNM), Greg Niemeyer (Art Practice & BCNM), Abigail De Konsnik (BCNM, TDPS), and Jen Wang (Music & CNMAT). The event features TDPS students performing experts of Cunningham choreography learned during two week teaching residency supported by Cal Performances.
