Described by the members of the Juilliard String Quartet as a "particularly personal and intimate musical voice", Ezequiel was born in Argentina on 21 July 1960. Early on he became interested in music technology and the rhythmic cycles of India, both of which were later to become significant features of his music. The press has alternately described Viñao's work as: "of great contemplative beauty" (Le Monde de la Musique, France); "monumental" (Stuttgarter Nachrichten, Germany); "concentrated, evocative (and) of austerely theatrical force" (The London Times); "engaging the ear in a fantastic harmonic language" (The Washington Post); "filling the hall with a sense of expectation and cresting excitement" (The Los Angeles Times); "intensely communicative" (Fanfare, USA); "always beautiful, exquisitely sustained" (Express-News, USA); "powerful and compelling" (The Record, Canada) and "fascinating" (Newsday, USA). Ezequiel's work has been commissioned and presented by leading performers and organizations around the world.
