The Department of Music is happy to welcome composer Mauro Lanza for a week in residence at UC Berkeley. Watch for postings of related events open to the public.

Mauro Lanza has worked at Ircam as an instructor and composer in research. Primary research interests include synthesis using physical models and computer-assisted composition. The performers with whom he has closely collaborated include the Ensemble Court-Circuit, the Ensemble Alternance, the United Berlin Ensemble, the Ensemble l’Itinéraire, the Divertimento Ensemble, the Accentus Chamber Choir, the Jeune Chœur de Paris and musikFabrik. In 2002 and 2004 three concerts were presented at IRCAM dedicated exclusively to his music. In 2005 he composed the original music for the ballet Le songe de Médée of Angelin Preljocaj, a commission of the Paris Opera and Ircam. In 2004-2005 he was appointed guest professor of composition at McGill University (Montréal). Since 2004 he has taught computer-assisted composition in the courses on music and new technologies at the Conservatorio of Cuneo.
