We have adapted the AES/EBU digital audio standard to the coding and transmission of transduced gestures. We discuss the advantages of the AES/EBU standard over MIDI and other candidate methods and describe alternative mappings of gestural data to the audio streams of the AES/EBU protocol. We conclude with a description of a reactive glove system and a continuous position-sensing keyboard controller using AES/EBU communications.
