Construction:
- Doumbek aluminum cast body and standard 10 inch mylar drumhead
- 10 piezo film sensors, mounted on the underside of mylar drum head
- Drumhead wiring implemented with flexible copper tape, clamp interface at rim to internal wiring
- 3-axis accelerometer tilt sensor
Observations:
- Copper tape appears to have long-term stability problems and does not recover easily from deformation
- The layout of connectors on the drum head requires small-tolerance placement of the tape; a larger spacing of leads would be better
- Piezo film requires careful amplification and filtering
