Traditionally, the sacred is held to be that which is set apart. Graves and Papajohn take this as a jumping off point for an evening of music dealing with both distance and ritual through expressions of isolation and communion, the ancient and the modern, the vernacular and the literary. The concert will include new compositions and improvisations by Papajohn and Graves alongside interpretations of works by Orlando di Lasso, Anton von Webern, Giacinto Scelsi, and Jürg Frey.
