Animated Icosahedral Speaker

On one hand I obviously like to play, and on the other hand I tend to forget: I have just discovered an animation I have made in my e-mail folder, Jan 2007 :)

MIMO-XTC

Animated gif overview over the MIMO crosstalk canceler for acoustically coupled spherical loudspeaker arrays from my DAGA08 talk. Using these filters, the membrane velocities can be individually controlled. (click on original!)

MIMO-XTC-SH

Animated gif overview over the MIMO crosstalk canceler in spherical harmonics for acoustically coupled spherical loudspeaker arrays from my DAGA08 talk. Using these filters, the membrane velocities decomposed into spherical harmonic patterns can be individually controlled. (click on original!)

MIMO-XT

Impulse response of an icosahedral loudspeaker array with acoustic coupling (inside and outside) from my DAGA2008 talk.

Dolby surround sound formats

When we designate the maximum number of speakers/channels for each format, such as 5.1 or 6.1, we're referring to the number of front, center, rear, and possibly center-rear speakers (the .1 refers to the subwoofer) that the format can use. Stereo, a.k.a. 2.0, is a two-channel format. Check out the diagram to see how they are set up in a room.
