• There is a semi-anechoic chamber (aka isolation booth) in the basement of Morrison Hall (Room 11). The isolation chamber is ideal for close mic sampling and any recording that requires near total sound isolation.

• Contact Jay Cloidt (Department of Music, 7 Morrison Hall, 642-4904) to arrange access. If you plan to use it often, you can arrange to get your own door code. (If Jay is not available, you may contact Jim Coates, 104 Morrison, 643-8723)

• The following equipment is found in the metal cabinet in Room 11: small mixer with talkback, computer keyboard with mouse, two microphone stands with no holders, a few extra cables. The combination to the cabinet lock is 1 1 1.

• One condenser microphone. Not exceptional quality.

• XLR cables, USB connectivity, (2) 1/4" unbalanced cables are permanently installed and run from the inside to the outside of the chamber.

• User needs to provide laptop computer, audio I/O interface and all microphones. Microphones and audio interfaces can be checked out by qualified users from CNMAT. See Richard Andrews.

• User must use sign-in/out sheet located in room. Please don't forget to do this as we need to keep track of how the room is being used.

• USB connectivity allows a computer keyboard to be connected inside the chamber with the laptop computer sitting just outside the chamber and visible through the chamber window. The computer keyboard is available on site. This makes it possible for a single individual to run a recording session without support from a recording assistant.

The chamber has been wired to allow for talkback and headphone mixes from the exterior.
