The Department of Music at the University of California, Berkeley, invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor in the areas of Music and Technology, with an expected start date of July 1, 2018.

We seek applicants with a record of research in the fields of music and technology through any combination of journal publications, technological innovations, associated work in composition, sound art, or trans-disciplinary collaboration. The ideal candidate will present new visions for the research agenda at the Center for New Music and Audio Technologies (CNMAT).

Duties will include directing undergraduate and graduate music and technology curricula, working closely with the graduate program in music composition, and mentoring other graduate students as appropriate. The successful candidate will be expected to act as Principle Investigator for grants and partner with collaborating faculty and departments on emerging research in music and science.

Basic qualifications: The completion of all PhD or equivalent degree requirements at the time of application.

Preferred qualifications: Doctoral degree that includes a music and technology component. Record of research and publication in the areas of music and technology. Familiarity with the history of research at The Center for New Music and Audio Technologies (CNMAT).
