DAVID MONACCHI

David Monacchi (Italy - 1970) is an ecoacoustics researcher, composer and interdisciplinary artist. He has been developing the project Fragments of Extinction for 25 years, conducting field research in the world’s remaining areas of undisturbed primary equatorial forest in all continents. The recipient of multiple international awards for his work on intangible heritage of ecosystems, Monacchi is pioneering a cross-disciplinary approach based on unique 3D soundscape recordings, to raise awareness on the biodiversity crisis through science-based sound art. His Eco-acoustic Theatre’s patented invention (a spherical amphitheatre dedicated to sensorial and cognitive deep listening experiences) is being built in museums and public spaces, now traveling as SONOSFERA®. Monacchi has been portrayed by journals as Nature and PNAS, and is now full-professor at the State Conservatory of Pesaro, Italy. Collaborations with IUCN and ICCROM, to promote advocacy in primary forest soundscape conservation, culminated in an invited talk for the plenary session of the UN COP-14 Biodiversity Conference and for UN COP-27 Climate Change Conference.

Nicola Casetta is a computer musician, live electronics performer and lecturer.
His music focuses on the use computer technology to transform, disassemble and reassemble sounds in innovative ways to create sonic drama and musical development. This involves fusion of sounds recorded in natural environments with more abstract sounds developed through electroacoustic processes.
His music has been perfomed at Angelica Festival Bologna, 57° Festiva di Nuova Consonanza Roma, Borealis in Bergen (NO), Festival DME in Lisbon (PT), Festival Zeit fur Neue Musik in Rockhenhausen (DE), Frameworkradio in London (UK), Manifeste Ircam in Paris, Ma/In in Matera, 8th FKL Symposium, NYCEMF 2015, ICMC 2014 in Athens, XX CIM in Rome, SoundKitchen (UK), Sweet Thunder Festival of Electro-Acoustic Music in San Francisco (US), UCSD Music - CPMC Theathre in San Diego (US), VII Simposio Internazionale FKL, Premio Phonologia in Milan, Silence Acusmatica 2013, Segnali 12-13-14, Distanze 2013 and 2014, Festival dei Due Mondi of Spoleto 2012 among others.
Nicola is currently Professor of Electroacustic Composition at the Conservatory of Pesaro.
