Rafal Zapala, associate professor at I. J. Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań (Poland), is working at CNMAT on his Fulbright awarded project entitled "Research into real-time interactive systems for non-linear music composition and performance" during Fall 2021.

The goal is to design software for musicians who want to create non-linear music and are interested in interactive participation of the audience during concerts.  The artistic objective will be a new composition intended for a chamber line-up of instruments (fl, vno, vc, db, elx) and websocket mobile console for the audience. Additionally, the theoretical aim of the research is to formulate a new concept of "open form" music, intermediated by technological tools.
