On December 19, 2021, and as part of the San Francisco Contemporary Music Players 2021-22 season’s in the COMMUNITY offerings, SFCMP presented works hailing from UC Berkeley’s Center for New Music and Audio Technologies. In keeping with SFCMP's mission of identifying and fostering emerging talent and creativity in the Bay Area new music scene, we host here a group of CNMAT-affiliated artists and encounter their works in an installation-style setting, tailored to create unique sonic environments, and with the involvement of a solo artist from the Contemporary Players as a featured performer. This year’s line-up includes the world premiere of a new work for percussion and electronics by CNMAT director and longtime friend of SFCMP Edmund Campion, setting the stage for four acousmatic, electro-acoustic and multimedia compositions by CNMAT artists Hallie Smith, Jon Yu, Andrew Harlan and Didem Coskunseven. And in celebration of the 85th birthday season of an American pioneer in electronic media, Steve Reich’s Vermont Counterpoint for percussion and tape rounds out the set with a display of instrumental fireworks.
