The CCM presents composer David Wessel, Professor of Music at UC Berkeley and the Director of CNMAT. Improvisation is central to Mr. Wessel's computer-based musical research and practice. He will describe and demonstrate the way he organizes musical material and prepares for improvised performance with examples drawn from his collaborations with other improvising perfomers including Roscoe Mitchell, Georg Graewe, and Shafqat Ali Khan In the course of the evening he will present and perform a new solo work entitled "Inappropriate Desires" prepared especially for this Songlines event.
