On Thursday, February 26, Iyer teams up with his longtime collaborator, kotoist/sound artist/improvisor Miya Masaoka. One of the Bay Area's shining stars, Ms. Masaoka has performed worldwide with Pharaoh Sanders, L. Subramanian, George Lewis, Cecil Taylor, Fred Frith, Paul Plimley, and many others, and has recently released a trio album with Reggie Workman and Andrew Cyrille. Iyer and Masaoka will perform improvised duos, original compositions, and, most likely, pieces by their mutual favorite, Thelonious Monk.
