Jeff Koftinoff (Meyer Sound): Ethernet AVB and 1722.1
Ethernet AVB (Audio Visual Bridge) is an emerging IEEE standard for streaming isochronous media over ethernet. AVB uses a bandwidth reservation protocol to ensure availability of the network up to 7 hops. AVB also features a network clock with sample accuracy and sufficient precision for spatial audio configurations, such as beamforming arrays. 1722.1 covers Control, Enumeration and Discovery of AVB devices on the network.
AVB is now supported by Mac OSX Lion (10.7) and by the new D-Mitri product line from Meyer Sound.
