The sensual, expansive soundscapes of revered Finnish composer Kaija Saariaho are the focus of the fall concert by UC Berkeley's resident new music group. The celebrated ensemble collaborates with Saariaho as part of the composer's semester-long appointment as a distinguished Bloch Professor in the Department of Music. The program's centerpiece is a chamber adaptation of her exquisite cello concerto Notes on Light, an exploration of color and timbre that reflects her deep immersion in the world of electronic music.
