The CNMAT Users group has organized a mini-residency with the New York-based percussion duo Radical 2 from December 5-7, 2019. Radical 2, Levy Lorenzo (photo right) and Dennis Sullivan (photo left) is an irrational, classification-defying duo that explores the intersection of theatric, percussive and electronic mediums. A E R is a site-specific installation, by UC Berkeley Graduate Composer Didem Coskunseven and Engin Daglik (Stanford), focusing on turning a ‘transitive space’ into a ‘space of experience’ by using lighting design and interactive spatial sound design in such a way that they manifest both an uncanny and inviting ambience. The work consists of four light structures hung on the surfaces of a shipping container and 8-channel interactive audio immersed in this transitive space.
CNMAT is happy to welcome back Percussionist Russell Greenberg for a visit! Russell is a founding member of the YARN/WIRE quartet and has collaborated over the years with many UC Berkeley composers.
Jean Geoffroy, percussionist, and international soloist, is in residence this week at CNMAT working with composer Edmund Campion on projects and collaborations with the Conservatoire National Supérieur Musique et Danse de Lyon (CNSMDL) and Générateur de Ressources et d’Activités Musicales Exploratoires (GRAME).
Jean Geoffroy is the invited speaker for the composition colloquium this Friday, November 8, at 3 p.m. at CNMAT (free and open to the public):
