Students can engage with the Center for New Music and Audio Technology in many ways, from hands-on research and coursework to lectures, performances, and collaborations with leading innovators in music and technology. Graduate students in the Department of Music often work through CNMAT on faculty- or student-led research projects, while the Center’s public programming brings together researchers, artists, industry innovators, and students.
Faculty also regularly teach courses in collaboration with CNMAT, with some classes held in the Center itself. Students can explore current affiliated courses and discover opportunities to engage directly with CNMAT’s research community.
More recently, CNMAT launched an undergraduate research program, giving students an early introduction to music technology and the opportunity to work directly with academic researchers. The Center is also developing a summer minor for undergraduates, expanding opportunities for students to pursue music technology in a more sustained way.
