CNMAT-affiliated artist Claudia Hart received an award from the Esports Digital Art Prizes for 2019. Her acceptance of the award included the creative reuse of ZOOM's virtual background feature. The acceptance video went viral and points to a playful emerging art practice in the time of crisis -- something Hart calls ON ZOOMOLOGY.
As part of its upcoming 50th Anniversary Season, SFCMP will collaborate with CNMAT to feature SOUND ENCOUNTERS, a concert of sound art in an installation-style setting. SFCMP percussionist Willian Winant will perform James Tenney's Koan: Having Never Written a Note for Percussion followed by performances and pieces from emerging sound artists and composers Maija Hynninen, Jon Kulpa, and Jon Yu. Ali Momeni works at the intersection of art, sound, design, and technology. While at CNMAT, Ali will continue the development of ml.lib, a library of interactive machine learning tools for musicians and artists; and second, design and fabrication of several hybrid physical-digital instruments for drawing and music-making.

The CNMAT Users group has organized a mini-residency with the New York-based percussion duo Radical 2 from December 5-7, 2019. Radical 2, Levy Lorenzo (photo right) and Dennis Sullivan (photo left) is an irrational, classification-defying duo that explores the intersection of theatric, percussive and electronic mediums.
