CNMAT welcomes international researcher Han Zhang to begin a 2021/22 research residency.
Han will be working closely with Carmine Cella. The focus of the research will be machine learning based methods for music timbre representation, music creation, and other related areas.
Han recently completed her MS degree in Electrical Engineering from Northwestern University.
Professor Carmine Emanuele Cella has been invited to deliver a distinguished lecture at the Center for Interdisciplinary Research in Music Media and Technology (CIRMMT) located at McGill University. The lecture at CIRMMT will take place 4 October 2021.
Matt Schumaker (UCB Ph.D. 2015) joins the Arts Division of UC Santa Cruz as Assistant
Professor in Music, continuing his artistic research and teaching in the areas of computer
music and music technology.

Schumaker composes concept-driven music arising from computer-assisted composition
and interactive computer music research, a practice that often joins musicians with
bespoke computer technologies in live performance. His work emerges from a parametric
SFCMP Director Eric Dudley speaks with composer, and CNMAT Director, Edmund Campion about the first concert in a new collaborative series with SFCMP.
