Danniel Ribeiro is a Brazilian composer from Bahia. His compositional practice is driven by research and creative exploration, with a focus on exploratory instrumental writing and improvised performances supported by emerging technologies and informed by investigations into identity and multiculturalism.
A double portrait of sound artists and instrument builders Laetitia Sonami and Viola Yip, the concert will feature both artists performing a collaborative work as well as two solo works. Monday, March 14, 2022, 8:00pm to 9:30pm This Event is Free and Open to the Public (limited seating) George Papajohn (b. 1998 Milwaukee) is a composer and instrumentalist based in the San Francisco Bay Area. His recent work engages with latent tensions of identity held within the material, historical, and phenomenological aspects of sound. On Thursday, December 2, 2021. Carmine Cella will speak at BAMPFA on his research and creative work in the context of new sounds. As the culminating expereince of Rafal Zapala's Fulbright residency at CNMAT, a concert featuring his work will be performed by the visiting Hashtag ensemble. It will focus on artistic theory surrounding new open forms of music intermediated by technological tools. These forms are explored in the context of written scores and live chamber music performance. Jeremy Hunt is a composer and creative technologist based in Oakland. After graduating UC Berkeley with a PhD in Music Composition with a Designated Emphasis in New Media in 2008, Jeremy embarked on a career in education administration, teaching, and pedagogy in the private education sector. Jeremy Lee is a pianist, researcher, and a recent Computer Science graduate from UC Berkeley. At CNMAT, Jeremy primarily works with Professor Carmine Cella on developing software for music, particularly in the space of human-performed music. Eda Er is a composer, multimedia artist, and vocalist whose work integrates storytelling, sound, and visual media to explore themes of identity, belonging, trauma, and cultural heritage.
