CNMAT welcomes Annette Vande Gorne: Haïkus

Artistic Director of the Brussels International Acousmatic Festival L'Espace du Son, Annette Vande Gorne, professor emeritus at the Royal Conservatories of Brussels and Mons, will present a multi-channel acousmatic concert of her electro-acoustic work Complete Haikus (New Year's Day, Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter) 2016-2020 (57').  The one-hour composition will be diffused in the CNMAT main room in a special multi-channel mix performed live by Annette Vande Gorne.

Cella Honored with IRCAM commission and world premiere

CNMAT’s lead researcher, Carmine-Emanuele Cella's new composition, I am in blood, wil be given a world premiered at IRCAM’s Espace de projection on February 16, 2023.

I am in blood, commissioned by IRCAM, marks a culmination of Calla’s research in and exploration of assisted orchestration which integrates artificial intelligence, spatialization and the augmentation of instruments.

Luke Dzwonczyk at ISMIR 2022

Graduate composition student Luke Dzwonczyk’s piece The Oratory of Saint Philip Neri was presented at the 23rd International Society for Music Information Retrieval Conference (ISMIR 2022) as part of the music program. The conference ran from December 4th to 8th in a hybrid format in Bengaluru, India.

The piece, which was written by various computer programs, explores computational creativity, the ability of computers to create music, and the way humans interpret art made by machines.

Luke Dzwonczyk — La Nuit Sauve

Composition graduate student Luke Dzwonczyk created the music for artist Étienne Chambaud's video installation La Nuit sauve, which opened at LaM, Lille Métropole Musée d'art moderne, d'art contemporain et d'art brut in Lille, France in October 2022.

Sound Encounters III

For a third season, CNMAT will continue its partnership with SFCMP. On December 4th, 2022, in collaboration with the UC Berkeley department of music and SFCMP, CNMAT will help to present Sound Encounters III. The concert will feature works by CNMAT affiliated composers and artists, Eda Er, Kevin Lo, and Aine Nakamura.
