Welcoming John-Carlos Perea

John-Carlos Perea will be in residence at CNMAT as a visiting researcher, composer, and performer for the academic year 2022-23. In addition to being a GRAMMY® Award winning multi-instrumentalist and recording artist, John-Carlos is Associate Professor of American Indian Studies in the College of Ethnic Studies at San Francisco State University.

John-Carlos will be developing a musician-specific augmented performance environment for voice, cedar flute, and drum.

Blanton Featured In Portal Refractions

CNMAT composer and researcher, Andrew Blanton, will be featured in Portal Refractions, a New Art City Physical Activation. The event is hosted by Gray Area.

Rage Thormbones Residency & Concert

Rage Thormbones will complete their residency at CNMAT this month and present a concert of works by UC Berkeley composers. They have worked closely with the duo over past months to develop pieces that range from ecstatic grim comedy to improvisatory murmurings. There will be a light reception to follow the concert.
